First ODI in Tweets

Thea and I had dinner at Mum and Dad’s. dad is still wondering how I missed out on an IPL contract (the $$$ in particular!)  this year.  I am as dumbfounded as ever. To change the subject completely I invited him to sit down in his favourite chair, allow the dog up onto his lap, pat it to reduce his blood pressure and watch George Bailey’s boys upstage us all with a breathtaking dispaly of brute force in India in the first ODI. This balanced his mood on a knife edge – he and his flatulant companion rarely see eye to eye – but it stopped his idle ‘if only’ chatter for a few hours. If he hasn’t forgotten, I do have a baggy green!

I curated the best of the first ODI in Tweets during the silences.  e had turned the TV up loud just to annoy the dog who let him off his silent winds every so often just to repay the attention.  I opened the window enough to keep my humour.

@WellPitched: #India is on an 8 match #ODI winning streak… they take on Australia today.

@MathewJThompson: Australia has done a tremendous job of slaughtering this innings. Watson, Finch and Maxwell played dreadful shots – could cost us the game

@MumbaiIndian: Looked Plumb, Haddin is the best player of spin in the current Australian side. Good ball to get him out!

@UrgedRacketeer: this one day series is like porn stars tits. I’ll watch it but feel like I’ve seen it a thousand times

@CricCrazyNIKS: Brilliant spell from Jadeja. But will still be waiting for people to joke about the ranking.

@pranmaz: Just when I was about to tweet that R.Ashwin is proving worthless as a spinner in the ODI team, he scalps one. Will stick to my view though.

@NotMitchJohnson: Maxwell needs to buy brains from Bailey for his muscle to whack”. Can afford to buy 10 of those

@NotPistolPaul: what did Brad Haddin say to his team mates when he walked off? They thought it was funny!

@cricbuzz: 125*, 44, 55, 55, 4, 10*,82, 87, 4, 54* – Bailey’s last 10 ODI inngs. Career avg of 48.39 is the best by an Australian currently

@tickerscricket: He’s amazing. He’s dangerous. He’s got all the talent in the world. He’s as good a striker of the ball as anyone. He’s out.

@Innobystander: Cmon Faulkner, the crowd didnt pay they money for you to block every ball….

@ArjImages: While Bailey’s first class form doesn’t knock the door down.. how he bats & carries himself for @CricketAus suggests he MUST be in test XI

@toddycounago: What channel is India v Australia on?

@NIL_lionaire: Ashwin bowling filth once again. Dhoni getting done with his overs when the wickets were falling. Not impressive. I prefer Mishra

@mahekolic: Bailey is Misbah on steroids minus brain fades

@CricketAus: With 5 overs left, AUS 6-251 with Bailey 75(77) at the crease. What total will the Aussies set?

@Cric_AP: LOL One close decision by the umpire and some Aussie fans make it look like they have been short-changed at the till and some robbed

@tickerscricket: Mitchell Johnson bowling 95mph(!) rockets is much less fun without Matthew Wade trying to catch them

@Score_online: Dear Rohit Sharma, play as if you are batting for Mumbai Indians and the yellow jersy people are CSKians.

@SirCricket: Aus set the target of 304 !! But our boys can do it and that too. Easily.

@CricketAus: Express pace from Johnson and tight lines from McKay have limited IND to 15 off their first 5 overs.

@TheGhostWriter: Rohit Sharma should Just go to Johnson & say, “You’re in the starting XI for the next 5 IPL games” And maybe Johnson would ease Up a lil.

@fazhr: Irony is that, Mitchell Johnson’s slowest delivery is Bhuvenshwar Kumar’s fastest delivery. Yes.happens

@abcgrandstand: Australia beat India by 72 runs in first ODI, story updated with video highlights and GIF of Brad Haddin incident

@TheCricketGeek: What is worse, going to the cricket in fancy dress, or making a sign to hold up to the TV cameras? I am severely torn
